How can we make it suck less for you?
Thanks for asking. I was really enjoying how smooth the UX experience was on @Wisp though it has less features, but I have primarily used amethyst for years.
My main issue as a user is simple because I am not that technical.
I have no idea how relays work and don't want to touch the settings, but I would like for profile pictures and posts to show up consistently. I would like to press one or two buttons to get set up on relays (including the payment process if paid relays are necessary)
Very often my feed looks like this:

Before I quit to try other clients I was also having an issue where my default reactions and zap amouts were getting wiped out multiple times per day. That seems to have stopped π€
Same here π½
Amethyst is amazing, but nowadays, the sidebar has been overwhelming me, there are just too many options π€―π for me is like having 3 apps in to 1 or something like that.
One wisp feature I miss is the color and theme settings, apart from the fast load of profile pics and names.
Good job anyway π
Additionally whatever wisp was doing to stop bots was working really well
Translation is definitely good thing in amethyst
Nice user feedback
Can't please everyone.
I likee all the features and options. It's the reason I use Amethyst.
Wisp wants me to enter my raw nsec?
This is my same and only complaint, @Vitor Pamplona. Consistency in loading folks pfps, etc. I'm in the same boat as Source, mostly normie.
Working through it right now.. Usually we just check your own Index and Search relay lists to download these things, but maybe we need to fall back to other relays when those dont work or if the user you want to see has a completely broken outbox setup and their posts are not in the relays they are listing.
You are one of the most responsive devs around these parts and it is greatly appreciated.
BTW, your profile picture is not available in the url you posted anymore (satellite's blossom server)
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying they aren't good, I just don't use them. For example, calls feature should be disabled by default and not making me navigate all the options to discover there are activated. And in my opinion, that feature should be in apps like 0xchat, not in a Twitter/Instagram-style client (this is my point when I said its like having 3 apps). But that's just my opinion; I'm not saying the new features are useless. π€
I noticed that this morning. It had been working up to today. I've also been having trouble getting things to load in general on satellite.earth. I've also tagged @Stuart Bowman about it. I'm starting to wonder if he's abandoned it...
Amethyst is awesome. Only wish there was something nearly as good for a Web client...
Coracle was good at one point. I haven't checked it out in a while
Fantastic I appreciate the response. I have also had a hard time with tagging in amesthyst and I'm not sure if that's relay related or not. The tagging search doesn't seem to prioritize people I'm following or individuals with higher WoT scores
Coracle is great on everything except that it doesn't allow reposts. Which to me is a "core" microblogging verb, so that led me to Nostria.... Which is OK, but kinda slow
Interesting. @hodlbod have you considered adding reposts?
I made plume.website as a web client- it's not great compared to other sites/apps, but the profile view is really handy.
My feed was the same after some or a few relays went down + an issue with my name having ! In it.
If you have your own relay, you can resolve a lot of this. My Amethyst is looking much better after spinning up a strfry relay
Oh cool, I'll have to look into that
I have, and have rejected it because of a pet theory of mind. But people have been asking for years, so I'll go ahead and do it.
*mine
Legend. Thanks man π€
I am personally interested in your hesitation if you donβt mind.
I would be considered an abuser of reposting, as I believe that without algos individuals miss more than they see.
What's your theory? In recent versions of Ditto I started adding reactions to the home feed. It's as chaotic as you'd imagine and I actually love it. But now that both buttons put things in other people's feeds it makes the repost button almost useless. It's a "neutral to slight agreement" reaction button without an emoji image attached to it.
I like showing reactions actually. The reason people pick one or the other is different. Reactions are for me, and to support the poster. Reposts are me saying HEY EVERYONE THIS IS IMPORTANT YOU SHOULD LOOK AT IT. Obnoxious, but maybe sometimes what you want to do.
Reposts are IMHO crucial especially for popular npubs to signal "this is good content" from someone less popular. For instance, I notice on Mastodon Cory Doctorow almost exclusively posts reposts.
As opposed to quotes, which creates a new thread disconnected from the original author, reposts drive traffic back to the OP, which is the intention here.
I don't follow npubs who exclusively repost for this reason, but I like to strike a good balance with mine because that's the main means of discovery on nostr atm.
Ftr I tried Ditto for the first time earlier today and found it incredibly chaotic. I was seeing repeat posts over and over. I'll check back in a few months.
Yeah, clients absolutely have to collapse reposts. Luckily, IIRC I have this logic in Coracle already
Pet theory of mind sounded awesome to be honest
I wish I had one haha
I sadly laughed a bit as i immediately reposted this.
I appreciate that coracle ui feels warm and that you are holding to your values. I like your version of social media. It makes me rethink my own.
Please don't stop building
