Are you coming to @npub1rjtr...mp8a ? Make sure to download the latest version of @BitBlik from the zapstore - it's a KYC free tool to pay with Bitcoin in Poland in any shop that accepts Blik payments! BLIK is used by over 20 million people in Poland, making it one of the most popular domestic payment systems in Europe The network of merchants accepting BLIK has been growing steadily since the system's launch in 2015 For broader context, Poland has approximately 580,000 merchants accepting non-cash payments overall (as of 1H2025), meaning BLIK's acceptance network covers a very large share of the country's card/payment-accepting merchant image

@BitBlik this works well with a self-service terminal, but is not ideal with a human cashier. Maybe there could be a mode where you put up a bigger deposit, hold on to it for a few minutes and then tap a button to request the BLIK code just in time. IIUC they're only valid for 2 minutes?
But you would still need to enter the exact amount in PLN at the cashier right? Notice that hold invoices are not beneficial for the network to be kept for long periods. Also if you connect a budgeted @Nostr Wallet Connect wallet, paying after entering the amount (which you have to do it anyways) it a 1-click thing. Try it and let me know how it goes ๐Ÿ™Œ
Why does NWC feels yolo? You can pay from your self-custodial wallet with NWC, unlike ecash. Regarding taker taking the before, I'm not sure that makes such a difference since the most time consuming element is the creating the BLIK code on the taker's bank app, and that you have to do it when you're ready to enter it, otherwise it will expire after 2mins. Unless you're shopping during times where most takers are sleeping the average waiting time for a taker to reserve is ~10s.
I used another wallet for NWC, but that was actually worse. First time it timed out on the payment. Or so I thought so I let another customer go first. This was at a Zabka. The second attempt the POS terminal asked some question in Polish. Apparently someone had to approve the amount in the app. But then it worked after a few seconds without me doing anything. image
Tried NWC again at another place and it's definitely worse. It just times out and gives an error. But then I go to the Mininits and back to the app and it worked. But then the BLIK code was rejected. Got another one and then it worked. But that's definitely not ideal when there's a line :-)
