you're uncomfortable trusting range proofs to guarantee supply? its not as if it's new fancy math. why would you then be comfortable trusting that Bitcoin is cryptographically secure? although we all have to draw the line somewhere I don't think its logically consistent.

my trust in things is very low, especially software. especially software that is supposed to be the underpinning of all value pushed by humans for the next 1000 years. supply must be transparent. extremely so.
"perfect surveillance is the cost of integrity" I don't think thats going to work out like you hope. but its a valid view. I anticipate people will gradually become more comfortable with placing trust in cryptographic systems. I'm glad we have Bitcoin and Monero. But utxos with different histories are not fungible. And if its not fungible, its not censorship resistant.
