Washer is saying that a true saving faith makes someone detest their prior sinfulness, and become ever estranged from the world. False faith acknowledges Christ is Lord while remaining carnal in every other respect.
Yeah that sounds like perfect contrition vs imperfect contrition. How do you know if you're perfectly contrite? How can you know if you're saved despite imperfect contrition?
