This is a big thing. Need mobile first, low data clients for Nostr. Without this, you're excluding 98% of the world.
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok all have mobile and data friendly "clients"
And Amethyst lite or Wisp lite or whatever is being developed should factor in the Global South
Or maybe someone here can make it? I have zero clue about web development and JavaScript hurts my brain so much

Make Nostr Meshnet friendly.
There are options in several clients, which let you opt-out of preloading videos and images. Some even let you decide between wifi and mobile data.
But you're right, it should be considered.
Should be out the box.
Digging to client settings (all laid out differently) is a ball ache.
Having a data friendly client out the box with no settings is best to get the average African to even consider Nostr
The world in maybe 50 years?
Right! Was was that you wrote about 'lite' clients?
Yeah. Back in the day Instagram launched a lite version that stripped a lot of functionalities but had core posting and editing features. In some cases they remodeled existing tools into set filters rather than say customised levels.
We need something the same, strips away everything and aims for ruthless data savings
Stick to gaming 🎮 😂😂😂
Mobile-first Nostr clients are critical for global adoption, but decentralization adds complexity—most lightweight apps still rely on relays, which can be data-heavy. Reminds me of how tech divides play out geopolitically too, like in this piece on reactions to Khamenei’s assassination.
