China has announced plans to construct a massive space-based solar power station roughly one kilometer wide, designed to orbit Earth and collect energy almost continuously. Unlike ground-based solar farms, a station in space would not be affected by clouds, weather, seasons, or night, allowing it to receive uninterrupted sunlight year-round. The collected energy would be transmitted back to Earth using microwave technology, delivering power to dedicated ground receiving stations.
