⚡️🚨 ALERT - Coinbase reveals an extortion attempt orchestrated by cybercriminals who bribed members of customer support to steal the personal and financial data of a proportion of its users. The compromised data concerns less than "1% of customers making monthly transactions" and includes names, addresses, phone numbers, e-mails, partial social security numbers, masked bank account numbers, identity images, balances and transaction histories. Instead of paying a ransom demand of $20 million, Coinbase is offering this sum for information leading to the arrest of the culprits.
