imo, LN is already a protocol, NWC is Nostr+LN, currently i don't think there is any zapstore dependency on Nostr, so someone with just a standard LN wallet must get another wallet or do some extra setup. The ux with lowest entry barrier is the standard LN protocol, you pay an invoice with any LN wallet instead of just some of them or extra steps.
