Well said Rune. I wrote a short program recently that calculates the cumulative impact of inflation on savings over a 45 year career. At 2% yearly inflation, with zero taxes, the loss of purchasing power is ~35% over a 45 year career. This amounts to working for the government for free for 15+ years. At 7% yearly inflation and a 30% tax pressure, the loss of purchasing power over a 45 year career is 80%.
