My sweet boo is scared shitless of fireworks... that Madeira is famous for... It's going to be #boom #boom non stop for about 30min😞 He's a newly adopted 4year old "baby" and it's going to be our first #newyear .. We're getting ready with a den and considering hash brownies / beef butter balls.. Any advice on how to make it easier for him from at that time? image image #dogstr #asknostr #plebchain

It's a concern for myself too. We have two Doberman pups, 5 months old. This is some advice I have researched. Keeping dogs calm and unafraid during fireworks can be challenging, but there are several strategies you can try to help minimize their stress and anxiety. Here are some tips: 1. **Gradual exposure to fireworks sounds**: Play a recording of fireworks sounds at a low volume several days before the actual event, and reward your dog for remaining calm. Gradually increase the volume over time to help your dog become desensitized to the sounds. 2. **Provide a safe space**: Create a quiet, comfortable room or area where your dog can retreat during the fireworks. Add familiar objects like their bed, toys, and blankets to make them feel secure. 3. **Use calming aids**: Utilize calming products like pheromone diffusers, calming collars, or anti-anxiety wraps to help reduce your dog's stress levels. You can also try calming treats or supplements, but consult with your veterinarian before giving any new substances. 4. **Exercise and tire them out**: Engage your dog in physical activity or playtime before the fireworks start to help them expend excess energy and relax. 5. **Distract and redirect**: Try to distract your dog from the fireworks by engaging them in play, providing treats, or using a favorite toy. 6. **Keep them indoors**: Keep your dog indoors during the fireworks to prevent them from escaping or getting injured. 7. **Mask the sounds**: Play calming music or white noise to help mask the sounds of the fireworks. 8. **Consider professional help**: If your dog's fireworks anxiety is severe, consult with a veterinarian or a professional dog trainer for personalized advice and guidance. 9. **Desensitize your dog to the visuals**: In addition to the sounds, you can also try to desensitize your dog to the visual effects of fireworks by showing them videos or pictures of fireworks at a low intensity and rewarding them for remaining calm. 10. **Stay calm yourself**: Dogs can sense their owner's emotions, so it's essential to remain calm and composed during the fireworks to help your dog feel more at ease.

Yes. I had Dobermans in the past in the UK where they do not allow the ears to be docked only the tail. But here in SE Asia it is the same as USA and other countries, both are 'allowed by law'. They are both clipped tail and ears.
