It sounds like you are pretty informed. We probably just disagree about. If the course of events are just "representative" policymakers who lack long visionary ambitions and are mostly just reacting on emotions stirred up by the press.
Or as I tend to conclude, that the elected officials are solely beholden to a strict party system, where not sticking to certain policies will get you excluded, both from the party and the media sphere. That the general lack of values (seen currently in the ME) and the missing reflection of public opinion, seems very much like secret services and societies play a way bigger role in policy making, than we may have assumed in the past. The constant push to undermine the constitutions (like privacy, separation of powers, equality under the law, check and balance, rights and liberties). This don't look like forces that represent the people of a nation, these are constant and direct attack that a 'real' representative would hold up as the highest values to protect.
They whole covid chapter is a long one. But under Nuremberg article 9 (as I recall) forced or coerced medical treatment of a population by a state is a clear violation of the Nuremberg convention. I'll not start on a long discussion of all the problematic issues regarding this topic, from Epstein, Fauci, Gates and how Merkel last week explained how countries were forced (via Gate's influence in WHO) to role out vaccines. How almost all defying heads of states ended up dead, from Abe in Japan to Haiti, Tanzania, Burundi and Madagascar. It should raise some serious questions about probability, I'm not a mathematician, but I know something about probability a dice that hits 6 20times in a row the one day that you go all-in is usually a bit sketchy.
