I'm a lifelong Democrat left of center-left Indian boy who grew up in rural, white, and conservative Eastern Washington State. So I have friends and family across the political spectrum—from MAGA to Marxist. And, anecdotally speaking, the happiest people in my life, regardless of political affiliation, are the ones who are part of a spiritual community, exercise regularly, spend time in the outdoors, socialize with extended family, and are in longterm romantic relationships. The unhappiest people in my life are the most politically active, whether by word, thought, deed, or online obsession.
