Never heard of the Persian Empire which was bigger than the Venician Empire. Doesn't know that writing and the numbers we use today were invented in the middle east. Sounds right if you only know the history he told you to look up though doesn't it?
Yes people from Venice travelled, but not many to most people like today. Mostly merchants and soldiers, not guys paid to stay home and make paintings for some rich dudes castle.
