If you read the old testament you will realise that every book is an attempt to answer the the cultural challenges the authors were facing at the time. God stays the same, but our environment changes. We don't have to deal with child sacrifice to pagan gods anymore but other challenges are now more relevant than ever. Of course the christian culture will reflect that.
