Hi! I host a Bible study each week on Cornychat. It’s every Tuesday at 8 pm New York time (we just wrapped up after starting about an hour ago). Attendance and participation had been steadily growing and thriving, but for the past several meetings, it’s been quite low. In contrast with this, many people seem to value that I do this, reposting and liking my updates I send out with #nostrbiblestudy Would a different time or something work better for the people who like the idea of this but aren’t usually joining? Would people prefer a Signal and/or Telegram group to chat and get reminders instead of following a Nostr hashtag or joining the SimpleX group? Please share your ideas! #Bible #Christian #Jesus #God #faith #cornychat #grownostr #asknostr

I would love a Signal group as a reminder! Had a meeting for my neighborhood association tonight, but I do want to attend a future study!
Thanks for doing this ! I was limited schedule wise before , however , that changed , I’m planning on keeping up a lot more going into the future .
Ignore this I just found the time you posted. I am in Australia, so time does not suit. This would be a wonderful group to be involved in, I have lots to learn . One day I may be able to join β€οΈπŸ™πŸ»
Fully supportive but I'm unlikely to attend anything due to time zone differences sorry.
Hey! For me it’s the date and time. I really want to attend but can’t. I’m definitely open to attending if there is a change in day. 🫢🏻
What is the focus of your studies and which bible are you reading from? I'm not so much interested in attending just curious, I noticed there are a lot of Christians on Nostr. That and the Christians on nostr seem much more genuine and humble, on the right path actually trying to live by Jesus teachings compared to what I am used to from both real life and social media.

Nostr, SimpleX, or Signal work for me. Weekday evenings or Sundays are probably best for me, so I will set a reminder for next Tuesday at 8pm.
My mother's mother was kidnapped from her community as a child by the government for being mixed race and given to a Catholic boarding school to be raised as a domestic servant as part of the Australian eugenics plan known as "breeding out the black" My mother was one of those cherry pick a bit of everything from any religion because it sounded right to her types, both devout Catholic but also a little Buddhist zain pagan droid whatever else. My father's parents were Jehovah's witnesses, my father had very traumatic experiences as a child and put a lot of the blame for why his parents could be so abusive on the JWs and religion in general. So my father raised me anti theist while I was attending meetings with his parents and my mother would take me to every different church mosque shine temple etc. she could. Personally I believe the universe itself is alive and we are all part of it and any further explanation would be pointless because it's literally beyond our comprehension as human beings to even imagine what God actually is.

I'm just learning how to use corny chat through alby. No change is needed for me personally, I'll try to make it. Can I see invites or somethings?
I find this an excellent initiative to study biblical texts. I would be delighted to join. Keep going, may God πŸ™ and Bitcoin ⚑ continue to guide you.
This sounds a bit like why we made the SimpleX chat. Sometimes it gets used, but not very frequently, which is why I was wondering if it would be more active as a signal group. Of course, you’re free to make whatever you want! I don’t hold a patent on Nostr Bible studies πŸ˜… quite the opposite, I dream that someday there will be many different ones, having nothing to do with me but everything to do with Jesus.
Thursday or Friday at 5pm est. Sorry small window. During the day on Saturday is usually good for me but horrible for everyone else I’m sure.
Participants are welcome to read aloud from any English-language translation they choose. I tend to read from NASB 2020. We started out reading the book of Luke, and are now reading the book of Acts. In general we’re reading to grow our understanding of who God is and what the scripture means. Reading for truth, basically. Skeptics and believers in other religions are very welcome to join as long as their focus is also on trying in good faith to figure out what the Bible itself is actually saying and how the god of the Bible is being described.
I truly grieve for your ancestors’ pain πŸ«‚ As for God being incomprehensible… it’s not exactly that Christians disagree entirely, but that we believe that Jesus’ birth and life as a human being is (partly) God’s move towards us to make Himself more comprehensible β€” comprehensible enough for us to learn from and imitate, comprehensible enough for some of us to have seen and touched and been served and healed by. We call him the Word of God. We call the Bible that, too. I’d say that in a similar way, the Bible is also there to make God more comprehensible. Ours is a God who loves us so much He moves towards us and even dwells inside us as the Holy Spirit. He may be incomprehensible in full, but still delights in being known and loved as we can.
