Oh come on. Myspace lasted roughly 6 years. Facebook is going on more than 21. Myspace peaked at 110Million users Facebook hasn't peaked yet and is at 3 billion. Instagram 2 billion, and threads has 400 million. Myspace revenue peaked at 800 million, meta is 190 Billion. There is exactly zero comparison, and meta is not going anywhere, anytime soon. Let's just be honest and say it's massive, I hope we chip away at a few users, and grow decentralized and foss alternatives. Just my 2 sats

Who’s comparing? I’m just saying things come and go. I don’t have the data you have, only my own experience as both a user and a former ad user. Reach is at an all-time low, pages have to pay to reach their own followers, ads don’t perform like they used to, there’s censorship, "fact checkers", shadowbanning, and tons of bots and trolls (doing their own thing in the comments and significantly inflating user numbers), while actual users are increasingly passive, myself included. The list goes on. It doesn’t feel like things are going particularly well. I don’t remember what the final straw was for MySpace, but they lost their audience surprisingly fast. If Facebook ever rolled out something like mandatory Digital ID, or some other equally dumb move, it could happen quickly. I respect your view that they’ll be around for a long time. I’m just more skeptical. Time will tell 🙂
