I work in a blue collar profession where you can advance into highly specialized niche areas of emergency services. What I've noticed in and outside of my profession is that at times those that have become highly skilled in their areas of specialty become less and less skilled, patient and or willing to teach and or exchanging critical team building information with less experienced members of the group.
With my experience and seniority I have levereged this observation and capitolized on it. I take all my education, training, and experience and I position myself close to the less experienced members who exhibit high levels of motivation to learn, grow and excel in our trade. I share and exchange critical training points in a way that an inexperienced member of service can absorb. The way you deliver training and education makes a huge difference on how the information lands and sticks with an individual. If you deliver in a way that resonates, you have potentially uplifted someone that in the future could have a tremendous positive impact on my life or that of many others.
It's underrated how influential one can be by establishing a simple, straightforward, patient means of relaying critical education and training points to subordinates or less experienced members of your team. If you master this, you become the go to person even though you may not have all the knowledge on a particular subject. There may be others who have more experience, education, and or training than you. However, if you position yourself with a means of exchanging information that resonates, you become that special, invaluable, irreplaceable member of the team that everyone depends on to get tasks, and goals accomplished.
Be the person folks want to learn from, even though you may not know it all....
Be humble, be patient, and be willing to exchange information with those who are eager to learn, grow and excel towards excellence. This is the way.
