The fun part is that some of the documentation comes from old court records that mention aspects of biphasic sleep in passing, apparently assuming it was normal

In the hunter gatherer days our sleep cycles naturally fall out of alignment, that way there's always someone awake keeping watch at night.
I found out by ready Matthew Walkers 'why we sleep' that this actually isn't true. We do sleep naturally in a biphasic pattern, but that means one long period of sleep and an afternoon nap. Not two distinct 4 hours sleeps.
I usually take my dog for a 15 min walk in the middle of the night since he can’t hold it all night.
