I thought the beliefs were things like monotheistic god and holy trinity, heaven, sin, etc…. And then the religious texts were the stories that made sense of things and from which beliefs were constructed. One thing I find kind of funny about Abrahamic religions is they all tend to think that they should include only religions that existed prior to their own founding. So Judaism thinks its alone. But then you’ve got Christianity which is like. It’s just us and the Jews, so we wrote a second book of the Bible. Then the Muslims come along and add a third book of the Bible, but keeping the first two. Then the Druze add a fourth book. The Baha’is kept all of those and added some new texts. Whereas the Mormons when back and made their own third book, which has crazy stuff about Jesus coming to America. It just keeps going. So which I don’t really think it’s worth intentionally offending religious people, it’s kind of a pointless fight. Like everything else humans create, it’s all made up by us. And for some folks use some set of these beliefs and it’s really important to them. But if any were true then it’s very unlikely we’d have so many different and contradictory religions.

I agree with you on this...no doubt about what you say regarding people adding text and then adding more text, and then even more texts, and making up stuff on the fly! And that's not even mentioning folks who take the old texts but then interpret them in their own modern way so as to make them fit into their own belief system, apart from what the text actually says. I do appreciate you sharing your thoughts and getting back.
