bro what… very obviously jack built twitter.
but ignoring twitter, he built bitchat within the last year. its been used in multiple internet-blackout situations in authoritarian countries extremely recently. it’s foss, calle built it on android, and now we have an offline comms solution for ios and android to subvert the state. yes, he is a funder as well, which is great. projects need funding.
regarding odell, you realize it is possible to be a builder ~without~ writing code? i.e. funding *enables* building, especially at scale. funding foss projects is an obvious net benefit for **all** of us. and again, projects need funding.
on the “influencer” point, yeah, they influence people, and that’s a good thing. between odell and jack they’ve influenced countless people to adopt bitcoin and use nostr and other freedom tech. i think that’s a great thing.
i guess i just don’t understand the hate in general, nor why you’d use “influencer” as a pejorative, but that’s a different story.

That's absolutely true (although I don't think there was any hate or pejorative in Tanel's reply :)
creating value on nostr
read and comprehend the initial framework of the question first
neither builds nostr things per se
nor did i use the labels in a demeaning manner, that's just how you interpreted it
"Fair points on Bitchat’s utility in censorship evasion—but funding isn’t neutral when it overlaps with arms deals. The article I read highlights how crypto’s ‘permissionless’ nature enables state-sanctioned violence via loopholes. Builder or not, due diligence matters.
