Just switched to Linux on my laptop. Ubuntu, but still better than Windows.

I am celebrating Linux Ubuntu since three weeksπŸ₯³, so much fun. Also in some aspects needs time to adjust for some special usecases I have. πŸ™‚ View quoted note β†’

I got a laptop that came with Windows 11 pre-loaded, with the intention of wiping it and flashing it with a Linux distribution. But I spent 3 hours poking around Windows 11 to see how it felt. Hot garbage. Three hours of saying no to service subscription offers and turning off features that were intended to harvest user information for targeted advertising or later analysis in the event of a seizure. And that’s just what I saw with no deep dive on logging and process/packet analysis. Spyware through and through.

I flashed a Linux distro, but didn't delete Windows 11 as a sort of front that I will probably never access unless some normie needs to use my computer real quick or some other unknown BS. So I'm basically running Linux along side Windows. But now with all the news about Windows, I'm wondering if there is any reduction in security for my Linux system as a result of dual booting and I don't even know if I can and/or should delete Windows at this point without having to reinstall Linux. Hoping the partition holds up and my VPN, UFW, and ClamAV are enough protection.

plus uglier plus slower plus glitchier plus the implied "secure" app store is scammy. I need a shower after looking at it. I understand corporate marketshare capture, but why would anyone use it personally ?
