if i was trying to keep the people fighting/distracted and the right wing front man was a little too moderate id take him out to open a position for someone more radical. and this could all happen without either of those douche bags knowing about it. im not typically a conspiracy cook and im not 100% sure this is what happened but... looks suspicious to me
