The behavior you describe isn't unlike early Bitcoin adoption, and I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing... Early Bitcoin investors got in because (a) they believed in the Tech, but also (b) because they expected monetary returns. These two motivations are, or at least should be, synergistic.
Likewise early users of Nostr (and let's be clear anyone who writes anything here is incredibly "early") are making something of an investment, particularly in the Web of Trust concept.
But I wouldn't consider those people "influencers" in the sense of that word as it is understood. Influencers operating on traditional social media platforms have an entirely different playbook and skillset than what will be necessary to "succeed" on Nostr.
