I can see how mesh networking could make that a possibility, but the problem with relying on satellite is that you can only get satellites in the air if you have a lot of money and a lot of power. The problem with that is that you're inevitably going to have to trust somebody with a lot of money and a lot of power and if history teaches us anything, it's that the people with the money and the power cannot be relied upon to preserve our rights and freedoms.
