If that works for you to keep you in the moment - use it!
I personally am not hung up on the past, I don’t get stuck in what I said or did or could have done differently - many people live so much of their lives in the past they don’t enjoy the present.
For me, it’s the future. I live in the future and the future never comes.
I need to realize I won, I’m a finished project, I just need to enjoy this once in a lifetime journey.

You’re failing to count the cost.
The future is a imaginary the past is real
The present is merely a pivot point between them.
And you can’t truly appreciate it there by enjoying it, until you understand that crux.
What you’ve described for yourself as pure fantasy.
don’t forget the children’s lives that pay for it.
