Is the problem with nip46 or with Amber? I'd rather not have those feature than no Damus at all.

Its a problem for all signers. Private zaps, coinos deterministic wallet and probably more features he will build needs custom functions that signers need to implement I have support for private zaps in amber because amethyst had it too but no other clients ever implemented private zaps decrypting
