Update… The barista is someone I’ve known by name for a couple of years. I get the sense that he has an ownership stake in the small coffee shop because he knew the top line revenue and bottom line profit numbers. The 400k revenue and 100k profit are a bit low, but he said it was close. Transaction volume and average order - $10 - was spot on. He took the 2-pager and took the longer 20-min read doc, and took two more for the other barista. 😀 He brought up “but what about gas fees” and I said I’m ignorant as to that part but I’d get back to him. I know essentially nothing about ETH so I didn’t know that was an ETH issue. I’m going to update the “Merchant Conversations” document. It’s now obvious that the 2-pager needs to be just bullet points, and tbe back contain just three QR codes. And I need to write an article on Nostr for each QR rather than a link to a PDF as you can’t read the PDF on your phone. I’ll see them again on Tuesday. Wish me luck 😀 nostr:nevent1qqsfe4gea62ksz9tcyav0f0eqx0j9wjp03mzztarrhqsjrdstvuzatspzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgnghx8y

Oof a shitcoiner barista 🫠 Gas fees is Ethereum thing. No gas fees in bitcoin, just fees, and they are paid by the customer, not the merchant. If he accepts lightning, fees will be non-existent until he decides to settle on chain eventually. And even then he’ll pay a small fee for settling hundreds or thousands of transactions at once.

I made the point that I’m paying the fees and not them. I think that part is actually hard for them to wrap their heads around in a short interaction. And the other guy who works there is a shitcoiner - he asked “Will it (Square) take other crypto?” 🤦 I’ll go back this week and let you know how it goes.
