⚡️💬 NEW - GrapheneOS is defending its duress password feature after a user was charged in the US for allegedly activating it during a federal border search. The GrapheneOS foundation cannot and will not help US prosecutors in any way. A duress password is a second passcode that doesn’t unlock your phone, instead, it securely wipes the device’s encrypted data, making it inaccessible. GrapheneOS says the feature is legal and exists to protect user privacy. The project also says it has no ability to recover wiped data or assist investigators because the data is permanently erased.
