I can get on board if you mean post-WWII… There was a time where the ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, we just have to go back 80+ years. Remember Pearl Harbor, the attack that not only officially got the US involved in WWII, but it gave every soldier purpose to defend their fallen comrades, as well as actually protect their country.
