#pubky is like your npub with DNS. So from your public key, you go to the bittorrent network and run a query, then you get out a DNS record. So instead of domain_tld you have pubky to create a decentralized web. It can also store files, run relays, serve media and do all the things the web can currently do (including nostr).

Ah hah. Have to say bittorrent has proven a lot more rugged than I thought. If that gets traction makes Nostr's censorship resistance pitch all the weaker. (For me that was never the pitch anyway.)
