I think the search on Organic Maps needs a lot of work. Once you find where you want to go just click "route to". I also think they could've used a lot more colours or better buttons to make this more visible.

Organic Maps is basically the same code base/app, except that CoMaps was forked a few months ago. Search is indeed bad and I've only used navigation for short routes by foot.

Osmand is my way to go since years. I never used google maps, so i cannot compare. I is not perfect but i am satisfied enough. I use it in Greece. You can find it on f-droid also. https://osmand.net/
