met an 28 year old electrician at an airport bar and he said he just got his first pc. I explained what i did and he was genuinely interested because he had no idea what software was or how it is made. The pc was like a black box to him and there was no conception of how it worked or what programs were. Fascinating.

A year and a half ago I was the electrician. A year and a half later and I’m still like the technician. Black magic

Before Bitcoin I knew nothing about computers. What little I know of bash and python now is mostly out of the need to learn the deeper I got into bitcoin. Computers are black magic to me. A crystal flipping bits, processing millions of commands at once, connected to a network of other computers? black magic How did he make rollercoaster tycoon in assembly?

Doesn't he uses a smartphone? We use a phone nowadays for everything but calls 😂 So it would be easier to explain that a PC is just like a phone but it's stationary.

Got a similar impression talking to two early twenty guys last year who seemed to use electronics so perfunctorily that development or engineering received no attention, somewhat like very old people only with higher user skills.

I am not super technical but I am compared to most. I forget how mysterious computers are to most people
