Is there a benefit to doing this with zero other nostr usage? Or is the idea that this is a stopgap before one implements a deeper nostr integration?

NIP-98 opens endless possibilities. While login lets you personalize a page. The same NIP is powerful enough to do any read or write operation. You could build a whole facebook with this. Deeper nostr integration is indeed possible. However, nostr is about 1TB in data, and the web itself is a layer with 1 million times more data storage. These allows both systems to operate in harmony with trade-offs. Nostr gets a million times more storage. And the regular web gets next generation features of a decentralized network. It just puts incredible power in the hands of developers.
Is the idea then that apps will keep their regular database of content outside of Nostr? That’s an interesting solution to the problem of niche apps. Just simply don’t put the data on Nostr at all. Just use Nostr for accounts and nothing else basically
