The way to fire a firefighter is to hold them to a high standard during the first year or 18 months while they are a probationary employee. They are an at will employee meaning their career depends upon the successful completion of probationary testing. It’s the fear from the top that allows one or two to be allowed to fail the standard and still have their job that is the problem. I’m pretty sure this is LAFD when has this new soft woke side despite their long standing history of hard salty fireman.
