It's a crazy world out there. And what I really think is the problem of kids roaming freely in the internet and being confronted with disgusting things?
The disconnection pandemic.
How many parents are really connected to their kids, how many parents do really care what the kids are doing online, and how many more are able to create an environment at home for the kids to talk about weird stuff, too?
I've seen a lot of homeschooling and unschooling parents - especially that are older than me, but have kids the same age as my kid - downplay the online world because they don't understand it as they're not actively using it. So lack of experience > lack of guicance for the kids. Next point is that even in the "so hands on" homeschooling and unschooling community like to hide behind these terms, and fail to really connect to their kids because of their hippy-laissez-faire-lifestyle.
I think true freedom for kids can only exist with a deep connection between parents and kids.
