Their client is entirely designed so that you can't leave it. Adding NWC would remove some of that stickiness.

No it’s not, this is just a replacement for QR codes, which the wallet has anyway
Can you leave with your nostr identity? No
Can you use different lightning wallet? No
It's designed to keep you on their app. Don't hold your breath for NWC.
