Spotify hired production companies to publish music by "fake" artists to add to popular playlists to reduce their royalties payouts.
The victims of this scheme are real artists who are not getting playlisted and not getting paid.
Do better, Spotify.

Nothing surprises me with these vampires. I’ve taken my music off those platforms and I’m looking at ways to integrate with RSS and alternative models. We got to be the change we want to see. The record industry is dead, I accept that but fuck chasing algorithms to earn a coin. I honestly don’t know what the future holds for music but I know we need to think different.
The least surprising news update of 2024.
Any luck with that music side project website?
Not yet, although I run Owncast and Peertube instances. It’s part of my holidays project!
Owncast is baller, have you seen the Bowl After Bowl owncast stream?
Live every Tuesday night. Bowl after Bowl with your hosts @Sir Spencer, Wolf of KC 🐺 and Dame @DuhLaurien ✌🏻👽💨

No? But I’ll check that out for sure.
I didn’t realise this went out on Owncast, cool!
lets just obsolete them with a better alternative for artists and music lovers
Why pay when we can scam... Such fist thinking.

Glad to say I never had an account with them
