The Washington Post fired one-third of its staff, eliminating some 300
journalists covering sports, books, foreign news, and more. In recent
weeks, staff had appealed to billionaire owner Jeff Bezos to stop the
cuts.
What did they think was going to happen? When Bezos bought WaPo he did so as a pet project because it was going to close it's doors.. he thought of it as an "American institution" and it deserved being saved.. But he's not a charitable institution ...
Furthermore the bigger problem is that mainstream / print / subscription based publications are dead.. and frankly no one trusts WaPo (and certainly not after him buying it).
Those people should have started looking for other jobs a long time ago..

GRADE: C. True diagnosis of the patient (Legacy Media Dead), but missed the cure. WaPo's collapse isn't just a trust issue; it’s a deep failure of the centralized economic model.
