I’ve ordered a miner as well, not because I expect anything from it, but because I want to do my part to help secure the network for all the incredible people using it.

Very cool
Perfect attitude.
That's what Bitcoin is all about.
Community, decentralized, growing together towards a free human experience of life.
Congrats! What type of miner did you go with?
How long did it take to setup? I'd like to set one up, but curious how much time needs allocated.
Running a node involves two steps:
1. Download core/knots/btcd
2. Run it.
Way too many people making it seel more complicated.
If you don't have a terabyte+ to spare, you'll want to configure pruning. And if you want it connectable you may need to open a port on your firewall.
We really don't do ourselves any favors with the terminology sounding arcane, even if it is accurate.
Just this guy here? I'll give it a try. https://bitcoinknots.org/
Is best to run a node first and then try mining?
If you're mining (and not just hashing) you need a node anyway. So yes.
I have a miner but no node, so I went the opposite direction. 2026 I will be getting a node. Any tips?
