Once you go wool, you can't go back.
Too small indicates he doesn't see his wife for who she is. Too big means he held it up in a store, thought "yeah, that's about how big her ass/chest/thighs is/are" and insinuates that he thinks she's bigger than she is. Both can be triggering for someone with body issues.

I guess as long as you're getting the measurements right it's not THAT strange. Then again, she doesn't know that you aren't measuring her for a hole so....make sure she gets the special drink before bed?

Agreed. I've just taken to giving her little things every now and then. Those things include lego roses but not clothing.
