Thanks to the approval of Damus 1.6, this is now live in the App Store!

With the latest Damus TestFlight build (and coming to the AppStore as 1.6 soon) you can now select 🍷 translate.nostr.wine directly in Settings > Translation. https://translate.nostr.wine uses DeepL for high accuracy translations without KYC or any signup hassle. Simply generate an api key, deposit some sats, and add it to Settings > Translation! Additional features: - Auto removal of invoices, hyperlinks, other untranslatable characters before deducting credits from you and sending it to translation - If target language = source language, translation is skipped and credits are saved image

I think Snort has their own translation service for subscribers, not 100% sure though. Unfortunately I think only Damus supports this atm. The reason we stuck with the LibreTranslate API syntax is to support other clients but I don’t think anyone has added it. I’ve talked to Vitor about it and he only wants on-device translation services for privacy (and android already offers this). I’m working on Fabian now :)
I’m open to exploring how to make it more accessible, easier for users to sign up, etc. I think we could make the process of acquiring a key and depositing credits very smooth and in-app. Our @Wino [Bot] already supports adding translation credits with /translate deposit API-KEY amount. If an invalid api-key is provided it will suggest one for you. We could automate this process with a client so with a DM behind the scene and a paid invoice you would have a translation service up and running! The main problem is that DeepL is expensive and people aren’t used to paying for translations.
