If node operators wish to actually steer what the miners are doing, they MUST reject blocks with which they disagree, thus refusing to pay miners for that work. Miners DGAF about your whining on social media or your mempool virtue signaling 😘

If my one node could decide if a block gets rejected, I’d do that.

Filters delay spam transactions meaning that miners who mine spam transactions into blocks may get their block orphaned thus loosing the current 3.125 Bitcoin block reward. Filters also keep your node's mempool free of spam transactions. I also solomine with my Bitcoin Knots so if my BitAxe finds a block, it won't include any spam transactions.
