"There aren’t many downsides to #nostr growth being tied to #bitcoin"
Yes there is. There's a very strong possibility that p2p communications combined with p2p monetization will form centralized siloed communities governed by Confirmation Bias.
This could lead to information poor spaces between silos and narrow cult thinking becoming dominant.
Notice the information centralization on Bitcoin Twitter.
We have "freedom maximalists" and/or "Bitcoin maximalists" pushing keto, non seed oil, austrian and ancap bs economics, as if they are club entry requirements.
The same maxis that are suddenly silent with women losing sovereignty over their own bodies or have nothing to say about child deaths at school.
They built a monetized base for themselves by attracting similar minded people - now they are in thought prisons because to dare to be different means less income for their centralized social media business model.
I'm all for decentralized networks and their promise of free and open communication but lets not kid ourselves of the possible hazards and unforseen outcomes

We have "freedom maximalists" and/or "Bitcoin maximalists" - These are generalised terms and a lot of larpers anyway. A lot of so called Bitcoin maximalists are that even into Lightning much less #Nostr.
Women losing sovereignty and gun violence in schools is the current Left vs. Right debate that in reality doesn’t have anything to do with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is technically not political but in America (I’m not American) has become a political debate with yes more right leaning people in favour of it. Just because that’s the case this doesn’t link Bitcoin to guns or anti abortion these things are not related to Bitcoin. We need to take our “American political glasses off” here.
Your statement “now they are in thought prisons because to dare to be different means less income for their centralized social media business model”
You’re often referring to your perception on things on social media. Social media does not reflect real life but the extremes. There are a lot of more moderate or even silent bitcoin holders out there who simply want to hold on to new money technology as they cannot fully trust the current state / system they live in anymore.
