#Homesteading is not for the faint of heart. We’ve had #livestock for 3 years and this is our first deadstock. I don’t have any specific guesses as to what caused mom to lose her kid so early, but she seems totally fine? We’ll boost her nutrition and try again later this fall for spring babies 🤞. Life is a blessing 🙏. Go touch grass. #goatstr #farmstr #censorthis #farmphotography image image

Yes, goats! Mom, Saylor, is a standard Nubian. These guys have access to free choice minerals 24/7 and get copper boluses biannually (essential for goats here). They are super spoiled rotten since they’re our dairy goats, so my very best guess would be some toxic plant? Bc I do rotational browse them and the leaves are starting to fall. She’s def not the brightest yearling 🙄. I’m just really really hoping it’s not crap genetics 😬. Here she is with our new herd sire. He’s a dairy/meat mix and I am expecting much more hardy offspring than the full Nubians. image
