Trying a test run of the Square interface as a merchant so I can better educate shops at my local town — Am I missing something to accept Bitcoin as payment? I can only seem to do the conversion part 🤨 Cc @miles 🌞 Anyone tried this? #asknostr

Odd that it shows btc on the backend but not the front. I’m guessing you’re on the latest Square app version? Also, did the store successfully land on the CashApp merchant map?
It’s the oddest thing, I don’t see it at all, even when I go to my POS settings > checkout > payments. Does square use your devices location or your business location to determine if you can accept Bitcoin? I’m currently physically in NY state but my business is based in CT. That’s the only thing I can think of?! image
I just left the farmers market and neither of my two vendors heard about the release or knew how to enable bitcoin payments I am planning on going back tomorrow with clear instructions on how to enable it
But also why wasn’t an announcement blasted out to all merchants and a pop up configured in the app that should just allow them to enable bitcoin receipts
Yea, I’m pretty sure Square app requires location & microphone to use it. This screenshot is iOS settings, then use search bar “Square” Might be that it knows you’re in NY, and NY is well…🤡 image
It’s weird because even as a merchant with square there have been no announcements or emails. I would never have known about the feature at all if not for nostr. I wonder why square doesn’t put out the word en masse to all merchants?
Not sure if computer makes a difference — I did this whole process on my phone and was able to at least set up the square btc wallet. Gonna log in on computer to see if I missed anything.
Will report back tomorrow Anyone that frequents legion park market or the viscaya farmers markets in Miami should be able to pay the milk/egg/meat guy with bitcoin starting tomorrow Also need to work on the veggie stand… image
