yeah, shitcoiners don't understand that there is other types of distributed systems than blockchains
they don't understand that facebook, twitter, et al, all run permissioned distributed systems that use best effort replication schemes to connect between their regional data centers.
there is no reason why other consensus than proof of stake, proof of work, and permissioned, can't be created. i have on my todos list a protocol that uses nostr relays for this that will enable DNS style name registration, npub->name mappings and several other similar kinds of data that need to be replicated and verified. it uses a consensus based on web of trust principles for relay operators to rank each other and automate deciding whether to accept new proposals from them.
hell, most nostr devs don't even understand distributed systems, yet nobody listens to me even though i try to explain this very frequently for everyone, anyone, to learn something. well, i lead the donkeys to water, if they aren't thirsty that's not my problem. they will just have to catch up.
