⚠️ The United States is moving to designate the Cartel de los Soles — linked to Nicolás Maduro’s regime — as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
According to the State Department, the group is composed of senior Venezuelan officials who have used state structures to facilitate drug trafficking, violence, and transnational corruption. The FTO designation will give the U.S. expanded legal tools to target, sanction, and isolate this criminal network.
Washington also says the measure will strengthen cooperation with other countries in actions against narcoterrorism.
This move is already being interpreted by many as a direct ultimatum from the U.S. administration, signaling that Nicolás Maduro must negotiate his exit from power.
