Nostr currently sucks so bad that just to upload a video you gotta go through a ton of steps if it’s more than 45 seconds or whatever
This needs to improve is we want users…

Sometimes I can’t even upload a 10 sec video or a simple picture lol
Someone had to pay for the storage.
So that’s the problem?
Mostly. Free servers or non-paying users can't upload large or long videos.
Right but if it’s free on YouTube or ticktok we will never win
It's free because you're the product. User's are the product here.
I understand that that
But 99% don’t
That’s my whole point
We will never convince people to pay for shit that’s free at other places
I’m on the mission
I mean I’m with you
But there is only 300 of me apparently
Out of 8 billion
I’m pay a Nostr app called satellite. Earth
To host my videos
It’s fairly easy and cheap
But we need to bridge the gap
Between the people like me who are willing to pay a couple thousand sats to post a video
And the rest of the world that will try it and say Nostr sucks
Too many steps
Too much nonsense
I think it should be one button that says go live on Nostr
And when u click it bam your live ….
Nobody is going to pay for hosting videos
I do because my podcast is Nostr only
But most people will think this shit sucks compared to yt or TikTok
Yt and TikTok are eating our lunch currently
Do you understand what I’m trying to say??
This whole process needs to be easier and users need an explanation of what will and won't work with their current level of support.
It's probably needs to be heavily compressed before uploading. Otherwise, it's too big for most of us to download, anyway.
Yeah, why can't any of these apps have their own compression?
Shit is rediculous.
You gotta download a seperate app tor compressing videos, or upload them somewhere else first then download the automatically compressed version to upload here
To compete with them as a "free" media server (apps like TikTik, YouTube, Spotify, Instagram, etc. are *media servers*), we would need a few data centers.
TikTok has them all over the globe, at over a billion US dollars a piece. YouTube has even more of them.
If it was about the price or storage, I think automatic in app compression would be the standard.
People are uploading 10 minute videos to most in 4k that take an hour to load.
Holy fuck word spaghetti
If it was about the price of storage, instead of letting people upload 10 minute videos in 4k that take an hour to load, every app would have automatic compression when uploading to media servers.
That's what I meant to say.
Yeah, mine have compression. No point uploading something I can't download.
I have issues when they are compressed as well… although not as much
If I don't host my own I don't expect it to work. I don't host my own and iv uploaded many many videos on another account and it still works. So there's that. All the videos are still there.
For Free.. Nothing else compares if you ask me.
