So apparently we have pigeons in our Colo area. Had to open the window the night before due to our HVAC was throwing errors. In that time, these two fuckers decided to explore... I'll have to wait till our local lilac parade is done and close it... Possibly clean up caca... image

So attempt #1 at installing FreeBSD failed. I don't know if I'm flashing the memstick.img file wrong with dd, but I can't boot the install disk past mounting root... Ugh... I'll try again tomorrow. HP chromebook with 4gb of ram and 16gb of storage for those wondering. #bsdchallenge #lup666

Decided to give the BSD Challenge a try on one of these two Chromebooks. I got them from the nixbook guy at LinuxFest Northwest. One is Arm and the other is Intel. Both only pull about 5ish watts at idle so I can go either way. I will probably go with the Intel one cause the Arm(Tegra K1 SoC) requires modifying the boot image to use the chromeos recovery image. Or I can go hardmode and flash the SPI chip to allow unsigned bootimages... So yeah Intel with mrchromebook bios wins. Oh yeah also looks like running off battery is shot on both so I'm running with my Anker battery with 20v barrel jack to usb-C PD cables, but looks like one battery might work so fingers cross... If not, eBay it is... Also (Parden my cussing) FUCK YOU HP AND YOUR FUCKING HIDDEN SCREWS! You can tell HP didn't want your to repair these books easily. I will say though most of the parts where interchangeable except for the motherboards and screen hinges cause the Intel one NEEDED a Kingsington lock(LIKE THOSE EVER FUCKING WORK), But still... FUCK YOU HP. Overall, I'm hoping to get the hardware stuff done tomorrow and then the real fun begins. Installing BSD and configuring it. Yay... I can try installing PostmarketOS on the arm one in the meantime. Apparently that works out of the box. So we will see how this experiment goes. Anyways y'all have a great night or day depending on where you are in the globe!

Replacing on of our pack for a microwave point to point. It was flipping its etherport cause packet loss on our ring. Thank goodness we have backup pathways and a spare pack. Afterwards we need to ship this back to dragonwave to be repaired. Cheaper than replacing it. image

Well after a long weekend at #LFNW and Seattle, all of the penguins have been disbursed. I was proud of myself. Then at work I put my hand in my pocket and one manage to come back home with me. It's now on my monitor looking over me. Oh also got a mousepad. Geeze my desk is a mess.

So what I gathered, with my Framework 13, I can upgrade the display, top cover, and Mainboard without a full chasis change. If I want to use the larger battery, I will have to upgrade the bottom chasis. Okay, that a compromise I can live with. Awesome. https://frame.work/laptop13pro?tab=upgrade-to-pro

My army is rising.... 17hr print. I will probably print one more tray. Didn't use full bed since this is my first batch print here. I think I can print almost 100 if I fill the tray. Now realizing it, I could have printed a 6x7 grid of them and I would have had 42. Damn. image

Ordered ONE over a month ago on amazon for $9 plus sales tax. Opted to wait instead of cancelling the order... Order comes into today few weeks later. I got a whole case of six. Well I don't need the pods anymore. All for $9. These are being sold for $18 each now. #win. image

Beautiful. And this was printed with my work's new Bambulabs H2C printer, which I may have encouraged my boss to buy. Very little waste with the exception of the prime tower and initial purge. Now on to print a full tray of these probably at half scale. #tux #linux #3dprint #H2C #bambulab image
