Religion, Economics, and Politics are intimately intertwined with one another. My introduction to Politics and Religion came from being mathematically logical about the accounting of economic reasoning (i.e. "There is no way to spend money that was not previously owned by the spender") Assuming a Christian Metaphysics, Logic comes from God; Logic explains Economics, the study of Human Action; Understanding Logic/Ethics and Economics gives an understanding of Politics. All of this works in reverse when it comes to understanding the Root Cause or foundational philosophy of a political theory/system.

It is common to hear, "Politics is Downstream from Culture". I'd venture to say, "Culture is Downstream from Virtue/Vices". If Economics is based on subjective value assessments from individuals, Culture is based on the development of aggregate Virtue in a Society.
